We all want things to change, we cry out for it. “How could God leave things the way they are? Doesn’t he hear our prayers? He has the power to change everything”. I have had these thoughts so many times in my life, especially in the past two and a half years. Then my heart settled on Chapter 4 of Esther verse 14: “And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
We are in this place for a reason, the pain, heartache, hurt, along with the joy, triumphs, and successes all have a purpose. Honestly, we may never know why we are going through these trials, however, there is one thing that we do know for sure: Nothing surprises God! He knew exactly where we would be and what would be going on around us. He understands our hurt. Jesus, the night before his crucifixion said, “ O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39)
Jesus called out to God for strength. He wants us to follow His example. He wants us to call on Him for the strength to get through our hurtful situations. We can trust our Father, to reach down and comfort and strengthen us. He promised in Romans Chapter 8 verse 28 “ that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose.” With the hope that is in that verse, we know that God has it under control. We can relinquish control and trust our Heavenly Father with our future.
