Christmas is my favorite holiday for so many reasons. However, it has meant so much more to me as a mom. One of my greatest gifts came the day after Christmas in the form of a baby boy. As you can imagine, he loves Christmas. It is his absolute favorite holiday. He loves everything about it.
As I watch His excitement and joy for this day, my mind sometimes drifts to Mary and how she must have felt on this day looking at her baby boy. She knew that He was Jesus, the Savior of the World laying there in a manger. The Bible even states In Luke 2:19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. She was trying to make sense of it all. I love the song Mary Did You Know? I wonder if she sometimes wondered if she heard the angel correctly. Was her baby boy the one that was going to save the world?
Then my mind turns to God and how He sent His Only Son to us as a gift of Hope.
Luke Chapter 2 is a beautiful account of Jesus’s birth; however, I think that one verse often gets overlooked at Christmas. It is the verse that we often learn first as a child. It is a verse that shows how much God loves us. It is also the perfect Christmas verse.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV)
Christmas is when we celebrate the greatest gift that man could ever receive. Hope came into the world that day in the form of a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes. A Hope that no matter how dark the days get shines bright and helps us find our way in the darkness. A Hope that will move mountains and heal sickness, a hope that we can hold onto when nothing else is left.
This Christmas, it is my prayer that you spend time remembering and celebrating the birth of our Savior. He is waiting to provide you with the Hope you need to make it through your journey.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year Full of many Blessings!!

Such a wonderfully encouraging post! The practice of looking at Easter at Christmas (the true meaning behind Christmas) is such a faith builder!
