Psalm 91 1:2 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress my God, in whom I trust.”
The pastor used this scripture reference at my mom’s memorial yesterday and gave the illustration of a giant tree. This illustration has been on my mind ever since. In our times of trouble and grief, we want to hide from reality. We seek shelter from life storms—what better place to turn than our Heavenly Father. We can come and sit at His feet and find that comfort and refuge that our hearts and minds need. He is our rest when we are weary, our shelter when we are battered and beaten. He is standing over us, protecting us from the enemies’ arrows. His love for us is our strength when we have none.
We can trust that He will never leave nor forsake us. So, as I sit here tonight, missing my sweet mama with every fiber of my being, I know that He is protecting my heart and ready to provide me with the strength to move forward. My mom is present with the Lord, no longer in pain, able to talk and praise God for all of her years with us. I will live each day thanking Him for the many years that I had with my mom. When the pain gets more than I can bear, I will rest in his presence and know that He will provide the strength that I need.
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. John 14:1
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33.
My sweet momma is just gone ahead, waiting for me. I will see her again one day, and what a glorious reunion that will be.

So sorry about the loss of your mother. 😢 I lost my mom last year in August, and though I know she is with Jesus, it is still hard. Praying for your family.
