I was reading Luke this morning, and a verse caused me to stop. I had to pause and re-read it. I know that I have heard it several times. It is beautiful how God will make certain words jump off the page at you. I wanted to share the message He sent me today. I was reading Luke 21.
“Be on your guard so that your minds are not dulled from carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, or that day will come on you unexpectedly.
Luke 21:34 CSB
The fact that the worries of life were listed with drunkenness and carousing surprised me. Worry is something that most of us have experienced, or in my case, lately, it is a constant companion. Jesus tells us to guard our minds against these things. We must diligently turn over those worries and concerns because they will trap us in despair and leave us feeling lost. We must ground ourselves in the Word and constantly pray like I Thessalonians 5:16-18 states. Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances; this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
As I type this, trust me, I know it is easier said than done. The good news is we don’t have to do this alone. We can be confident that our God will help us. He will provide the strength we need. I am praying for you all today.
